Jim Grace

Position/Title: Operations Director
Credentials: CEng FIMechE MSaRS MIoD

Jim is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Jim has worked in the safety and risk management industry for almost 20 years and in 2003 Jim co-founded IJS Consultants with business partner Ian Moore.

Throughout his career, Jim has gained extensive experience in the production, management and verification of complex nuclear safety cases. Jim is currently engaged with Sellafield Ltd within the Legacy Ponds and Silos projects. Jim also has extensive experience of working at Devonport Royal Dockyard. Whilst on site Jim was involved in the Authorisation process for the Naval Base and also in managing the update of the Vanguard Class Nuclear Submarine Refit and Refuelling Plant Safety Case.

Jim has also worked for other clients such as UKAEA, BAE Systems and British Energy in the preparation of safety case documentation, plant modifications and detailed reliability studies. Jim has also been responsible for undertaking Independent Peer Reviews of a wide variety of safety cases.

Jim is the IJS Consultants Quality Manager and is responsible for maintaining the company's Quality Management System and ISO 9001:2008 accreditation.

Ian Moore

Position/Title: Technical Director
Credentials: BEng (hons) MBA CEng FIChemE MSaRS MIOSH

Ian graduated with an honours degree in Chemical Engineering and has over 15 years experience in the nuclear industry. In 2003 Ian co-founded IJS Consultants with business partner Jim Grace.During his time in the nuclear industry Ian has been involved in a wide range of activities, including writing safety cases for nuclear facilities and major modifications on nuclear licenced sites. Ian has extensive experience of chairing HAZOP and FMEA studies and the production of the resulting hazard analysis, which underpins the safety case.Ian has significant management experience, managing safety cases and sub contractors in support of multi-million pound projects. This includes both new build facilities, modifications to existing facilities and decommissioning projects.Ian has undertaken peer review of facility safety cases for a number of nuclear licencees. He has also presented safety cases to committees.More recently, Ian has taken a lead role in facilitating practical safety case training to a wide audience including, engineers, project managers and recent graduates.Ian recently obtained an MBA with the Open University. He has used the acquired knowledge to drive the future strategy of the company and develop the supporting internal business processes.

Phil Foley

Position/Title: Principal Consultant
Credentials: CEng, MIET

Phil is a Chartered Electrical Engineer with over 20 years experience in the delivery of nuclear site safety justifications and safety management systems; the design and management of major nuclear related marine and civil engineering projects including the management, design and site supervision of construction projects in the UK and the Middle East; and hands-on experience in electrical installation projects.

Phil is accomplished in team leadership/motivation, client and project management.

Phil is currently assisting a major project team by preparing the safety case for a defence client. As well as undertaking detailed analysis of the inherent hazards, Phil is responsible for independent review of the project's other deliverables, including review of the key interfaces to gain assurance of their modern capabilities.

Having joined IJS Consultants in early 2010, Phil is key to the development of the Glasgow base looking to existing and new nuclear licensed sites, Astute and the replacement Trident platform as major opportunities for growth and strengthening of the Company's capabilities.

David Christian

Position/Title: Principal Consultant
Credentials: BSc (hons), MAPM, TechSp

David is a nuclear safety case and hazard analysis specialist with experience of leading teams in a multi-disciplinary environment. With over 15 years experience, he is currently providing specialist advice and support to clients in the civil nuclear market.

David's proven areas of expertise are in Project Management, Technical Lead of Safety Case and Safety Assessment Projects, Marketing, Business Development and Resource Management, Project Sponsorship and Strategic Business Development.

Clive Wilkins

Position/Title: Principal Consultant
Credentials: CEng MIMechE MINucE MEng (hons) MSaRs

Clive is a Principal Consultant and Chartered Engineer with experience of producing safety cases and supporting assessments for a number of nuclear licensees. He has worked extensively in client teams, offering broad knowledge of safety assessment methodologies and an ability to provide fit-for-purpose solutions.

Clive’s experience includes support to the production of the first UKAEA Site Wide Periodic Safety Case development of decommissioning plans for the UK's fleet of AGR Reactors and safety consultancy support to the design of a crane for submarine de-fuelling, acting as the safety interface between designer and customer.

Clive is events officer for the North West Branch of the Nuclear Institute.

Jim Butt

Position/Title: Principal Consultant
Credentials: BSc

Jim is a Chemical Engineer and safety specialist with 23 years industrial experience employed as Project Manager/Technical Manager with involvement in production, process management and decommissioning. Jim has played a significant role in nuclear and explosives plant decommissioning, fine chemicals, explosives, pesticides, polymer production and household chemicals product management.

Jims experience extends to working in assurance and risk management roles on high-hazard and high-value plant sited on highly-regulated sites interfacing with NII, HSE and EA on MoD Contracts.

Wayne Leikertas

Position/Title: Principal Consultant
Credentials: BSc (hons), MSc, AMNucI

Wayne graduated with an honours degree in Chemical Process Technology and has subsequently undertaken a MSc in Safety Engineering.  Wayne has 10 years experience in the nuclear industry.

Wayne has extensive experience in the UK defence and civil nuclear industries, and has undertaken production and verification of modifications to facility safety cases for a number of nuclear licencees/ authorisees. He also has experience in presenting safety cases to committees and regulator interaction.  Wayne has a strong interest in ALARP, and developed and implemented a process for ALARP review for a defence client. In addition, Wayne has good project management and line management skills which complement his technical expertise.

Wayne enjoys walking, football and cricket and is a firm supporter of the charity Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres.
