IJS Complete Coast to Coast |
On the 8th of May IJS Conusltants started the epic bike ride from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Tynemouth with a support crew in tow. The group was made up of members of staff and other friends and family joing us on the way. All riders successfully crossed the finish line on sunday the 10th of May after 140 miles of cycling. The route included the monster climbs of Whinlatter Pass, Hartside and Black Hill. The riders battled through varying weather condition from sun and broken clouds to torrential rain and hailstones. The wind thankfully stayed behind for the majority of the weekend to all the riders relief.
This challenging endeavour was undertaken in aid of Cancer Research UK. The total raised to date stands at £2,750. We would like to thank all those who have sponsored us. Its still not too late to make a donation, just follow this link www.justgiving.co.uk/ijsoty.
(Top - C2C start in whitehaven, Middle - the summit of Hartside, Bottom - the finish in Tynemouth).

2 new recruits join IJS |
The Glasgow office welcomed a new member of staff to the team in April. Colin Morrison joins us from Sellafield where he has been working as a Chemical Engineer on a variety of high hazard projects.
The Reading office also welcomes James Thorpe who joins us as a Principal Consultant and will be adding to our environmental and assurance capabilities. James will be able to build on the environmental projects already underway and will be a great asset to us with his defence related knowledge and all round management skills. James’s previous experience includes a number of years supporting business development which will help to continue our growth in the South East and will assist in recruiting consultants to meet our future challenges.

Coast to Coast Charity Bike Ride |
On the 8th, 9th and 10th of May a team of cyclists and support crew will be embarking on the 140 mile bike ride from Whitehaven to Tynemouth all in the aid of charity.
Last year a team managed to walk the Yorkshire 3 peaks and over the year successfully raised nearly £6,000 for the New Manchester Childrens Hospitle. This year the challenge is bigger and better but so is our target for raising money for our chosen charity 'Cancer Research UK'.
The planning has started and we all have been delegated jobs in readiness for the big event. We have over 11 members of staff who have agreed to cycle the 140 miles, plus there are other friends and family joining us on the way. The emphasis has been placed on training and there have already been a couple of practice rides, if for nothing else than just to get used to sitting in the saddle.
A Just Giving website has been set up so that you can make donations on line at www.justgiving.co.uk/ijscoty. We will also be pestering people with sponsorship forms in a real effor to beat last years impressive total. We have also got a couple of other fund raising ideas up our sleeves which we will also be rolling out nearer the time.
Please keep watching this space as we keep you informed of how the fund raising and preparations are going.

The format is we provide tea/coffee and sticky buns from 08.00 with the seminar starting at 08.30. The seminar will be hosted by IJS Consultant’s Directors Jim Grace and Ian Moore who between them have over 30 years experience in delivering complex safety cases across the nuclear sector. People are more than welcome to stay as long as they like to discuss safety case related issues but we try and conclude the seminar at 10.00 so people can get back to work without impacting on the day too much.
In addition to the discussions around safety case production and delivery it also provides a great networking opportunity for interested parties within the nuclear sector.
Locations and Dates:
- IJS Consultants office in Reading on 15th January
- IJS Consultants office in Glasgow on 22nd January
Spaces are limited so people need to register their interest with Gemma Morris on 0161 237 6830 or info@ijsc.co.uk and Gemma will confirm their place on the seminar and the exact details for attending.

Website Launch |
In conjunction with EnjoyOnline Ltd, a local Manchester based web design company, IJS Consultants has updated its original website which first came on line in March 2004. Since that time the company’s head office in Manchester has moved to new premises in Oxford Court and new offices have been opened in Glasgow and Reading.
There have also been a significant number of other changes. The company now employs over 20 members of staff and also utilises the services of a number of specialist subcontractors. One of the principal aims of updating the website, as well as ensuring all contact details were up to date, was to more accurately present the professional services provided and the sectors in which they apply. A downloadable pfd file is available for clients to take away and consider.
Another feature of the website is to enable potential new recruits to get in touch and submit their CV on line. This is a successful tool that can be used to lodge your interest in working with IJS Consultants either as a member of staff or as an associate.
Finally, in the very near future the link to the IJS Training website will be completed. In the meantime if you have any enquiries please do not hesitate to contact Gemma Morris on 0161 237 6830 or at info@ijsc.co.uk.
